Szervusztok!
Ma délután I picked up my Hungarian phrasebook (Lonely Planet).
I think its exciting. Szerintem kitűnő... if you know what I mean :-P
Anyway, if you've ever come across a Lonely Planet phrasebook, you will know some of the hilarious statements inside the pages of the handy little thing.
- He/She is a good looking guy/girl
- Do you know what you're missing? Me!
- I don't take drugs. I take ... occasionally. Do you have a light? I'm high!
- Go away! Go to hell! Piss off! I won't do it without protection. LOL
- Easy, tiger! (Csak lassan!)
- It hurts me very much that I have to leave.
Also, I think its funny that the work 'park' is pronounced as 'pork'
which reminds me of pig o.O
and that 'party' is written 'parti' and is pronounced 'porti' which reminds me of a port-a-loo O.O
And let's talk about the TONGUE TWISTERS!!
This one makes me laugh:
A tarka szarka farka tarka. De nem minden szarka farka tarka csak a tarka szarka farka tarka.
Pronounciation: o tor-ko sor-ko for-ko tor-ko. De nem min-den sor-ko for-ko tor-ko chok o tor-ko sor-ko for-ko torko.
The multicoloured mockingbirds tail is multicoloured. But not every mockingbird's tail is multicoloured, only the multicoloured mockingbirds tail is multicoloured.
Makes sense, don't ya think?? xD
In summary, the Lonely Planet phrasebook is actually really handy. 250 pages of everything from travel to health, and banking to english<->hungarian dictionaries and a culinary reader for food.
:-)
Buy Lonely Planet rather than Berlitz. Trust me, I've read both xD
